Field Study, 2004-2006
I worked on Field Study during a residency at the MacDowell Colony. Each studio had its own empty field and this seemed a metaphor for creative potential itself. The final work, 2 1/4 inch Polaroid collage, was the technical answer to having no darkroom. I was 8 months pregnant and unable to work with darkroom chemicals. Scissors, pens, and glue became my tools as I began to re-make the photographs as I wished them to be in a perfect world. When the skies came out underexposed I taped on a darker sky. When I photographed fireflies and the image came out black, I glued some in...
Original, one-of-a-kind Polaroid collages, framed with titles etched on glass, various dimensions, 2005. Also, a series of archival pigment prints on paper, edition of 3, titles in pencil, 11x14", 2006.
